Low Volumes and Prototyping

Our machining service is positioned to accommodate requirements for low volumes right down to a single unit. The combination of a powerful CAD/CAM machining software systems and high speed 5-axis machining plant is perfect for rapid prototyping and small batch jobs.

Flexibility

We can machine any sized raw material block, or part-finished job, up to approximately 500 x 300 x 250mm (actual maximum dimensions depend upon features and tooling required). With appropriate tooling, we are able to machine a wide range of materials, including;

bullet

Cast iron, various steels, and other ferrous metals

bullet

Aluminium, brass, bronze, and other non-ferrous metals

bullet

Plastics, fibre board, and other machineable materials

Design Communication

Our established expertise and experience allows us to accept your design in a variety of ways. We can accept the traditional hard copy paper drawing or even a sketch, as long as it is concisely dimensioned. You can also email to us a scanned drawing in the form of a PDF or other common format, to save time. However, for maximum precision and shortest turnaround, we can accept the native model files created by a variety of design software.

Spotlight On... Multi-axis CAM
Traditional manual machining centres are generally limited to 3 axes - X (left-right), Y (forwards-backwards), Z (up-down). 5-axis centres have 2 more - comprised of rotation about two of the conventional axes. Combined with multi-tool changing, effective program generation and CNC control, this allows the machining of complex contours as well as more standard features. It also means that a complex product might be completed in one uninterrupted operation, allowing smaller tolerances and minimal machine setting and resetting.
